The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation made a generous contribution to the Pulp & Paper Foundation in the Fall of 2008. The donation was made at the request of the mill in New Bern, North Carolina to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the PSE program at NC State. It recognizes the quality and caliber of PSE students in general and especially the interns that have worked at the New Bern mill. Mill representatives presented a check to a group of PSE students at a sponsored luncheon on campus.
According to John Ashley, VP/Mill Manager at New Bern, "In our opinion, NC State has an excellent program for Pulp & Paper Science and Engineering. We participate with their summer intern program and have partnered with them on various other projects. We are proud to be able to present this Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation contribution to provide scholarship support."
