The Paper Science & Engineering program at NC State continues to be one of the largest and strongest in the country -- and the outlook for the future is quite bright.
Currently, 43 freshmen have completed their first year and are moving forward to their sophomore year. 22 new freshmen have been recruited for Fall 2008. It is hoped that this core freshman group will be augmented with the addition of 10-15 students who initially applied to NC State in Chemical Engineering, Engineering Undeclared, or other programs.
The traditional "gospel" of the PSE program -- individual attention, hands-on learning, outstanding facilities, strong scholarship support, summer jobs and co-ops, high placement rates and salaries -- continues to resonate with students on campus. Joint administration of the PSE degree by the College of Natural Resources and the College of Engineering has resulted in greater exposure of this message to a variety of students.
